“Still German” with Jane Behrends and Erica Christ

Jane Behrends is a German immigrant who after almost 30 years in America, still has her accent and an eye for the ironies of our culture. Her story ‘Keeping the Accent’ is a personal story about arriving somewhere unexpectedly and finding reasons to stay. Told through four vignettes, it traces how a place that never meant to be home began to feel like one through small, ordinary encounters that quietly added up. Along the way: official checkpoints, unexpected moments of grace, and a family history carried across multiple generations. Some parts of us change with time. Others stay with us forever.
Eric Christ is the host of Cheap Theater, daughter of German Immigrants who founded and still operate the venerable Black Forest Inn, and a witty commentator on ordinary life.
