SUMMARY:Zola Rosenfeld & Carl Franzen "Summer Music"
DESCRIPTION:A warm\, intimate evening of original songwriting under the summer sky. Join us for two distinct voices: Zola Rosenfeld’s tender\, literate indie-folk and Carl Franzen’s wide‑ranging\, story-driven songs. \nMusician Bios: \nZola Rosenfeld- Born in San Francisco (c. 2000) and made in Minneapolis (c. 2021).  Zola’s indie sound resonates somewhere in the realm of acoustic Elliott Smith and Aimee Mann. Skating the dichotomous line of opacity and vulnerability\, her lyrics explore identity\, memory\, and biting self-reflection. A self-taught guitarist and songwriter\, her artistic roots trace back to an early love of Shakespeare\, short-story writing\, and classical voice training. Devoted caretaker of a geriatric cat. \nCarl Franzen- I’ve met many songwriters who understand the way a song is supposed to be structured\, or how to appear on stage\, or have vocal cords that can go full throttle night after night. I don’t compare very well on those terms. The advantage I have is that I don’t put myself in a box. I write about the world as I see it\, with a changing menu that changes my perspective. I’ve written songs about God\, the Boundary Waters\, the day the bridge came down\, an all-night-café waitress\, a speed skater\, small towns. the ICE invasion\, and the wondering if the Declaration of Independence is a break-up letter or a love letter. In other words\, a collection of poetic\, irreverent\, historical\, argumentative\, and hopefully memorable songs where the audience plays a vital role\, listening with heart and ears. \n  \n\nTo register: \n\nAdd the number of tickets you want by clicking the ‘+’ button\nClick the ‘Get Tickets’ button\nNote- After purchase\, tickets & receipt may arrive in your ‘Junk Mail’ folder

SUMMARY:Ken Takata Ensemble "Music & As You Like It"
DESCRIPTION:In this show\, we’re featuring the many songs in one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies\, As You Like It. Most are new compositions\, a necessity given that almost all of the original stage music has lost\, but we will also feature a setting by Thomas Morley of “Under the Greenwood Tree” from 1600 that Shakespeare might have used. \nBesides illustrating the musical styles in Shakespeare’s day\, Morley’s song also gives us clues about how to handle one of the play’s central staging questions\, namely: \nQ: how do you portray the Forest of Arden\, the main setting for the play?\nDo you choose\n• a realistic forest\,\n• a symbolic “forest of the mind\,” or\n• a forest that’s a disguised version of Duke Senior’s court? \nThe answer\, somewhat surprisingly\, can shift depending on what music you use. We’ll show this by performing several different settings of the same texts so that audience can hear this in action. \nBesides songs from As You Like It\, we’ll also feature material from other plays. Musical styles include glam rock\, Western swing\, European art song\, early 1950s R&B\, Scots-Irish folk music\, New Orleans piano ballads\, bossa nova\, Weimer cabaret\, jug band songs\, homages to the Second Viennese School\, period correct (i.e.\, circa 1600)\, parodies of radio ads from the 1940s\, and several other genres\, in other words\, a little something for everyone. \nPerformances from Sarah Callahan\, Sophie Caplin\, Laura Lenz Landstad\, and Sarah Zuber.\nMore details at https://kentakata.com \n  \n\n\nTo register: \n\nAdd the number of tickets you want by clicking the ‘+’ button\nClick the ‘Get Tickets’ button\nNote- After purchase\, tickets & receipt may arrive in your ‘Junk Mail’ folder

SUMMARY:Marv and Kaat
DESCRIPTION:Singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist Marv Gohman performing in a duet with the fantastic up-and-coming singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist Kaatwalk. The high-energy show features tens of instrumental sounds from violin\, banjo\, harmonica\, piano\, mandolin\, and so many guitars. \nMarv Gohman grew up in suburban Minneapolis/St. Paul and started playing violin when he was nine. He always enjoyed singing and as his musical adventure progressed\, he started picking up more and more instruments. He has performed professionally on: 6 & 12 string acoustic & electric Guitars (they’re fun to collect)\, Harmonica/Blues Harp\, Percussion\, Mandolin\, Keyboard\, Viola\, Bass\, Banjo\, Recorder\, Tin Whistle\, and various other noise makers. It gets a little tough to get enough practice on all of them. \nKaatwalk\, a Twin Cities based singer-songwriter\, infuses her music with a quiet honesty. Her musical style is a blend of heartfelt lyrics and a stripped-down\, authentic sound. \nInspired by storytellers like Brandi Carlile\, Phoebe Bridgers\, and Joni Mitchell\, Kaatwalk’s music defies genre boundaries and embraces lived experiences. Her songwriting is personal and reflective\, often drawn from the shared moments and emotional undercurrents of everyday life. \n  \n\nTo register: \n\nAdd the number of tickets you want by clicking the ‘+’ button\nClick the ‘Get Tickets’ button.

SUMMARY:Larry Long & Fiddlin' Pete 'As In Those Early Days'
DESCRIPTION:***THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT*** \nPlease join Larry Long & Fiddlin’ Pete Watercott on their 2024 Reunion Tour in celebration of their new release ‘As In Those Early Days’ with bassist Larry Dalton. \nLarry Long & Fiddlin’ Pete Watercott’s life story is something out of a John Steinbeck novel.  Throughout their early twenties they hitchhiked and hopped freight-trains throughout the West passing the hat from bar to bar\, performing most anywhere that people gather.  In exchange for the hospitality and generosity shown by those who helped them out along the way\, Larry would write a song in their honor.  The lyrics were left pinned onto their refrigerator door with a magnet before Fiddlin’ Pete and Larry headed back on the road. \nIn the course of their travels they joined up with bassist Larry Dalton\, who they met in the High Sierra Mountain Range town of Truckee\, California in 1976. \n \nThe music they perform together is deeply rooted in the American song tradition of Woody Guthrie\, Pete Seeger\, Hank Williams\, and Bob Wills. Their live performances are an equal measure of lyrical ballads\, country-swing and old time fiddle tunes woven together with threads of explosive instrumental improvisation.  As the legendary Jesse Ashlock\, who performed with Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys remarked\, “You guys got an entirely different sound and I like it.” And then with a twinkle in his eye\, replied\, “After sitting and listening to you play Pete\, looking back\, I should have never picked up the fiddle.” \nNow fifty-years later\, Larry Long and Fiddlin’ Pete Watercott have come back together with bassist Larry Dalton for this 2024 Reunion Tour to celebrate five-decades of friendship.  They are also releasing their new live acoustic recording entitled  ‘As In Those Early Days’\, which they recorded along the banks of the Mississippi Rivers through the good graces of Brett Huus\, Soundstrations Audio. \n\nTo register: \n\nAdd the number of tickets you want by clicking the ‘+’ button\nClick the ‘Get Tickets’ button.
