SUMMARY:An American and a Russian: Exploring the Other
DESCRIPTION:For decades\, Americans and Russians have encountered each other through politics\, propaganda\, and fear. But what happens when they encounter each other IRL? \n“An American and a Russian: Exploring the Other” brings together two storytellers—Bernadine\, an American\, and Sufian\, a Russian immigrant—to explore how they have imagined\, misunderstood\, and sometimes unexpectedly embraced the other. Join us for an evening of public history\, intimate remembrance\, and music. \nTeller Bios: \n \nAn academic by day\, Sufian Zhemukhov is an award-winning author and performer. His stories draw on his experience as a first-generation immigrant and college professor\, which might be funnier than you’d expect. \n \nBernadine Joselyn is the Minnesota-born descendant of white Protestant farmers and their settler forbearers. Imagination and longing led her from her childhood home in a first-ring Minneapolis suburb to New York City\, India\, the Soviet Union-later Russia\, and now\, rural Itasca County\, giving up civil society building for tree tending along the way. \n  \n\nTo register: \n\n\nAdd the number of tickets you want by clicking the ‘+’ button\nClick the ‘Get Tickets’ button\nNote- After purchase\, tickets & receipt may arrive in your ‘Junk Mail’ folder \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Beginnings & Endings- Online
DESCRIPTION:A story begins where the teller chooses to start but where is that? And how does that starting moment draw an audience into the world that is the story?
