Machinery Hill was a Ferrari showroom for Dad who was raised on a farm many years ago. He preferred the green ones. The kids enjoyed the wonderland of h-u-g-e tires, astonishing complex equipment and great “country folk” watching. At the agricultural peak the Hill showcased heavy tractors, combines, and plows from over 100 manufacturers.

In the early 60’s the nature of farming, demographics, and a change in implement   marketing meant heavy farm equipment dealers moved away from the fair altogether. Machinery Hill slowly shrank. Today, a much smaller State Fair footprint features electronic consumer goods, cars, lawn mowers, recreational vehicles, a few antique tractors, dog shows and a family-friendly Little Farm Hands exhibit. Machinery Hill is hard to find. If you do find it, it’s just filled with big-city folks’ toys.
